Wedding cakes vary in price depending on cake size, serving sizes, number of tiers, cake and filling flavours, and decorations. According to Easy Weddings, the average cost of a wedding cake in Victoria is approximately $649. I used to price all of my cakes the same regardless of the event, as I was one of the people who used to say 'why do wedding cakes cost more than any other cake if the same ingredients are used?! It's ridiculous!' The reason I no longer believe this is quite simple- the process of booking, making and delivering a wedding cake is far more time consuming and labour intensive than making a simple birthday cake.

Ordering a birthday cake generally involves a couple of emails back and forth with the customer, an invoice being sent and a pick up time agreed upon. Ordering a wedding cake generally involves a lot more time emailing as there is far more to consider. Most couples also choose to come in to the shop to have a meeting with me to continue discussions and taste cake and filling flavours, a service I don't charge extra for. Lastly, I spend a great deal of my time in the days and weeks leading up to the big day corresponding with the venue and other vendors to finalise delivery details.

Once you have submitted a quote form, I will go through your request and email you with a quote. Your cake will not be booked in until I have sent you an invoice and you have paid your deposit.

If you are having a cocktail wedding or if you have other desserts organised as part of your food package, I would suggest you choose coffee serves. If the cake is the only dessert that will be served on the night, then dessert serves are the way to go to ensure all of your guests have a decent sized slice of cake!

Absolutely! We are now experts at delivering giant wedding cakes safely to venues no matter how windy the roads are or how hot the weather is. Delivery fee will be calculated based on distance from Kyneton. Please note there will be an additional cost if you need me to dress the cake with flowers or other decorations upon arrival.

Once we have both agreed on everything for your cake order, I will send you an invoice outlining all of the details of your order, from the cake flavour to the delivery date. In terms of payment, I require a 25% non-refundable deposit to be paid one week after this invoice has been sent, and the remaining balance is due two weeks before the event (but don't worry about trying to remember that, I will send you a friendly reminder email a few days before payment is due).

You are more than welcome to make changes to your cake order as long as you provide me with at least four weeks notice. While minor changes generally won't require any alterations to your payment, please note that any major changes (eg. size of cake, cake flavour, delivery address) may alter the final cost.

I understand that stuff happens in life and sometimes a cancellation is required- and that is totally okay! For cancellations made more than 14 days prior to your event, you will receive a refund of your money minus the 25% non-refundable deposit. For cancellations less than 14 days out from your event, I am sadly unable to provide a refund, as the ingredients will most likely already have been purchased and some things may have already been made.

Most couples like to ask their florist to provide some additional flowers for the cake so that it ties in with the theme of the day. However, if you would like me to arrange flowers for you, just let me know in your initial enquiry.

No way! If you are having a tiered cake, you can pick different flavours for the different tiers. The advantage of doing this is that not only will the couple both get to pick their favourite flavours, but the guests will all be able get a slice of something they love!

If you receive your cake the day before it is going to be eaten, it is best to keep it in the fridge overnight. If you receive your cake on the day of the event, it is totally fine to leave it in a cool place until serving. Bringing your cake to room temperature before it is eaten is ideal as nobody likes stone hard buttercream!

If your cake outlasts the event (which I really hope it doesn't!) it can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container or plastic wrap for up to 3 days.

Please note that gluten, nuts and dairy are used regularly in the MIGNONE Cakes kitchen. While I do have endless food safety processes in place and I do my absolute best to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, there is no guarantee that any of the cakes produced here are 100% allergen friendly. If you have a serious allergy, unfortunately the only way to be 100% sure is to not consume my products- sorry!
